Tonna Male Voice Choir raised £425 for Prostate Cymru at their recent concert at Llangatwg Community School on Saturday 2nd April.
The choir, which is based in Tonna at the foot of the Neath Valley, was established in 1968 and now has over 40 members. Performing a varied programme including Holst’s World In Union, musical theatre showtunes Ol’ Man River and This Is The Moment, Bob Dylan’s To Make You Feel My Love and a range of traditional Welsh tunes, Tonna Male Voice Choir showed their versatility and skill to the audience.
The choir were joined by special guest artists South Wales Clarinet Choir for the evening. Formed in 2005, the South Wales Clarinet Choir is an ensemble of ex-professionals, music teachers and accomplished amateurs playing instruments of the clarinet family ranging from the smallest E flat clarinet to the largest, the contrabass. The ensemble performed classical pieces such as Handel’s Arrival of the Queen of Sheba and light pop pieces like Leroy Anderson’s The Syncopated Clock.
