A team of 20 rode the Tour of Pembrokeshire for Prostate Cymru on Saturday 18th May. The twelfth tour started early in the morning at Crug Las in St Davids. There were four different distances (23.7, 56.9, 81 and 106 miles) with elevation ranging from 1426 feet to 10221 feet for participants to choose from. The routes took cyclists through many Pembrokeshire towns and villages including Trefin, Fishguard, the Preseli Hills, Crymych, Maenclochog, Little Haven and Broad Haven.
The members of the team supporting Prostate Cymru chose different distances to test themselves on the challenging routes. Friends from the Cylch Cinio Hwlffordd group including trustee John Daniels and Pembrokeshire Friends of Prostate Cymru treasurer Simon Moffett took on the 23.7 mile ride. Other participants including Mark Davies, Aled Huw, Alun John, Glyn Heulyn, ambassador Ray Giles, Prostate Cymru’s Chairman Andy Thomas and Corporate Events & Marketing Executive Owen Pugsley completed the 81 mile route.
Members of the Pembrokeshire Friends of Prostate Cymru, including Judith Griffiths, Brian Harries and John Williams, kindly volunteered their time to help out covering registration, marshalling and other behind the scenes activities to ensure that the event ran smoothly. Prostate Cymru is very grateful for the commitment of these volunteers who were instrumental to the success of the day.
Prostate Cymru is one of the beneficiaries of this year’s Tour of Pembrokeshire along with many other national and local charities such as Wales Air Ambulance and The Paul Sartori Foundation.
